Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 November 2026
This policy explains how WAYR LTD ("WAYR", "we", "us") collects and uses personal information when you visit www.wayr.co.uk, send us an enquiry or book a call. We keep it short and plain. If anything isn't clear, email us.
1. Who we are
| Data controller | WAYR LTD |
|---|---|
| Company number | SC753300 (registered in Scotland) |
| Registered office | 974 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow G41 2HA |
| meg@wayr.co.uk | |
| ICO registration number | ZC280957 |
We are a small business and don't have a Data Protection Officer. Meg Curran, our director, is responsible for data protection and is your contact for anything in this policy.
2. What we collect
| When | What we collect |
|---|---|
| You fill in our contact form | First and last name, email address, company name (optional), subject, your message, and the service you're interested in |
| You book a call | Name, email address, the date and time you choose, and anything you tell us in the booking form |
| You email us | Your email address, name and whatever you include in your email |
| You visit the website | Technical information needed for the site to work, set through essential cookies only (see section 7). We do not currently run a newsletter signup, analytics tools or marketing tracking (such as a Meta pixel) on this site |
We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health details) through the website. Please don't send it in a form or email.
We don't take payments on this website. We don't collect card or bank details through it. If you become a client, payment and bookkeeping data are handled under your engagement letter, which covers how we use that information.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we need a lawful basis for each use.
| What we do with it | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry and arrange or hold a call | Legitimate interests (responding to people who contact us), or steps you've asked us to take before entering into a contract |
| Prepare a quote or set you up as a client | Contract (steps before entering into a contract, and the contract itself) |
| Keep the website secure and working | Legitimate interests |
| Keep records we have to by law, or deal with a complaint or legal claim | Legal obligation or legitimate interests |
We do not currently send a newsletter or marketing emails, and we do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries and booking details that don't lead to work | Up to 12 months after our last contact |
| Information about clients | As set out in the client engagement letter, normally for as long as the law requires for business and tax records |
We do not currently keep a mailing list or website analytics data, because those tools are not in use.
5. Who we share it with
We only share your information with services that help us run the business, and only what they need. They act on our instructions.
| Who | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Wix.com | Hosts our website and stores contact form submissions | US and elsewhere (safeguards below) |
| Google Calendar (calendar.google.com) | Our booking tool for free calls | US and elsewhere (safeguards below) |
| Google Workspace (Google) | Sending and receiving email at meg@wayr.co.uk | US and elsewhere (safeguards below) |
| Professional advisers (such as our accountant or solicitor) | Only if needed to run the business or deal with a legal matter | UK |
| HMRC, the police or other authorities | Only where the law requires it | UK |
We do not currently use a newsletter tool, analytics provider or Meta pixel.
Some of these providers store data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards the law allows, such as UK adequacy regulations (including the UK-US data bridge where the provider is certified) or the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
6. Keeping it safe
We use reputable providers, strong passwords and two-step sign-in where available, and we limit access to the people who need it (currently just Meg). No system is perfect, but if something goes wrong we'll deal with it and tell you and the ICO where the law says we must.
7. Cookies
Cookies are small files saved on your device when you visit a website.
- Our website runs on Wix, which sets some essential cookies to make the site work and keep it secure. These don't need your consent.
- We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies (including Google Analytics or a Meta pixel). If we switch any of those on later, we will update this policy and only set non-essential cookies if you agree through a cookie banner.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.
Wix publishes a list of the cookies it sets in its own help centre.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
| Right | What it means |
|---|---|
| Access | Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you |
| Rectification | Ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete |
| Erasure | Ask us to delete your information, in some circumstances |
| Restriction | Ask us to limit how we use it, in some circumstances |
| Objection | Object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time |
| Portability | Ask for information you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere, in some circumstances |
| Withdraw consent | Where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time. This doesn't affect anything we did before |
To use any of these rights, email meg@wayr.co.uk. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. We may need to check who you are first.
9. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first at meg@wayr.co.uk and we'll try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator:
- Website: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
10. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if the way we use personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
